Energy use and cost

HAM energy meters measure the electricity use in kWh. The app also calculates the cost of the energy.

  • A HAM energy meter in your account. See which devices measure energy.
  • To change the cost of a device, you need Manage access or you must be the owner.

The energy today, this week and this month

Section titled “The energy today, this week and this month”
  1. Open the device page.
  2. Find the Energy cell. The cell has three dots.
  3. Click the cell. See the values Energy (Daily), Energy (Weekly) and Energy (Monthly).

The Cost (approx) cell has the same periods. Click it to see the cost per day, week and month.

The chart shows the energy as bars. Below the chart, click a range:

  • Today: the energy of the day.
  • Last 7 days: the energy of the last 7 days.
  • Last 30 days: the energy of the last 30 days.
  • Custom: for a calendar month, set the start to the 1st of the month and the end to the last day.
  1. Open the side menu.
  2. Click Tools > Data.
  3. In Devices, select the meters.
  4. Select the reading Energy.
  5. In Range, select the range, for example This month.

The table below the chart shows the total energy for each device. For ranges of more than 7 days, the total is approximate. For exact values, make a report.

The app multiplies the energy by the Cost per kWh. Use the electricity price from the bill of your supplier.

  1. Open the side menu.
  2. Click Account.
  3. In Settings, select the Currency.
  4. Type the price in Cost per kWh.
  5. Click Update settings.

If you have a second tariff, for example a night tariff, type its price in Cost per kWh (alternate metering). This price applies to the second energy reading, on devices that have one.

  1. Open the device page.
  2. Open the Settings section.
  3. Type the price in Cost per kWh.

The device price overrides the account price. If the device price is empty or 0, the device uses the account price. See device settings.

  • Cost (approx): the cost of the energy in the Energy cell.
  • Cost (Daily), Cost (Weekly), Cost (Monthly): the cost per period.

The cost is an estimate. It does not include fixed charges or VAT, so it is different from the bill of your supplier.

The DinSwitch also shows Bill prediction, an estimate of the next bill.
