HAM EnergyModbus

The HAM EnergyModbus reads an energy meter over Modbus and sends its readings to the HAM app. It is for sites that already have an ABB, Schneider or Janitza energy meter.

The serial number starts with e39:.

The readings come from the meter that you connect.

  • Connect an existing energy meter to the HAM platform.
  • Consumption metering in panels that already have a Modbus meter.
  1. Connect the device to the Modbus port of the energy meter.
  2. Connect the device to WiFi from the mobile app. See Connect to WiFi.
  3. In the settings, select the Meter Type.
  4. Enter the Baudrate and the Modbus Address of the meter.

You find the values for steps 3 and 4 in the meter settings or in the meter manual. HAM Systems cannot know them for your meter.

For more information, see Modbus.

  • Meter Type: the meter model. The options are ABB M1M, ABB M4M, ABB B24, Schneider PM200, Schneider PM3200 and Janitza. The default is ABB B24.
  • Baudrate: the speed of the Modbus connection. It must be the same as the meter setting. The default is 9600.
  • Modbus Address: the address of the meter on the Modbus connection. The default is 1.
  • Reading timeout: if the meter sends no data for this time, the readings show as missing. The default is 600 sec. The minimum is 6 sec.
  • Cost per kWh: the energy price for this device. It overrides the account setting.
  • Cost per kWh (alternate metering): the price for the second energy counter.
  • Do not keep track of data: the platform keeps no reading history for the device.
  • Allow LAN commands: other devices on your local network can control this device. Keep the setting off if you do not need it.
  • Force IPv4: the device uses only IPv4 connections. It is on by default.

General settings for all devices are in Device settings.

  • No readings: check Meter Type, Baudrate and Modbus Address. They must be the same as the meter settings.
  • Readings show as missing: the meter sends no data for longer than the Reading timeout. Check the Modbus wiring.
