Conditions and timing

Conditions are the IF part of a rule. The rule triggers when all its conditions are true at the same time.

The first field of each condition is the source:

Source What it checks Notes
A device (by its name) A reading, output, event or state of the device See the next table.
Time of Day If the time is between two times Default 08:00-20:00. A window over midnight is allowed, for example 22:00-06:00.
Day of Week If the day is in a range of days Default Monday-Friday.
Manual trigger Nothing. The rule runs when you tap it. The rule becomes a scene button on the device list. See Scenes.

The list changes with the device. It shows only what that device has.

Option Example
A reading Temperature, humidity, power, level
A reading that adds up, with a period Energy Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Since 7d ago, Since ref., Since bill, or (Total)
An output Relay on or off
An event A button was pressed (occurs)
Connection Disconnected or Connected. See Get an alert when a device goes offline.
Firmware update The device updates its software
Location (geofence) GPS devices only. The device is inside or outside a circle on the map.

Tap Pick on map and select the centre of the circle. Set the Radius in metres. The default is 100 m. The map accepts a radius of 50 m or more.

Symbol Meaning
> above
< below
= equal to
≠ not equal to
⟷ between two values
⤬ not between two values

Type the value in the unit that the app shows, for example °C, kW or %.

The first condition has a FOR time. The condition must stay true without a break for all of that time. If one reading in between does not meet it, the wait stops. The count starts again the next time the condition becomes true.

Example: temperature above 8 °C FOR 15 minutes. If the fridge door opens for 2 minutes, no alert comes. If the temperature stays above 8 °C for 15 minutes, the alert comes.

From the second condition on, the time is called AFTER. When the previous condition is true, the cloud waits for this time. Then it checks the next condition one time.

The difference from FOR: with AFTER, the cloud does not watch what happens during the wait. It checks only at the end.

Example: door open, and AFTER 5 minutes, door still open.

seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months.

  • Up to 12 conditions in each rule. The app joins them with and.
  • There is no “or” option. For “or”, make two rules.
  • A condition can come from a different device. For example, one condition from the fridge and one from the door sensor.
  • The app warns you when two conditions cannot be true at the same time.
