GPS with temperature
GPS trackers with temperature show where the vehicle is and the temperature of the load compartment. Use them in refrigerated trucks, vans and transport of food or medicines.
The serial number starts with t1:, t3:, t4: or t6:, as the configuration sets.
For the models, the SIM and the map, see GPS trackers.
Two ways to measure
Section titled “Two ways to measure”| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Wired probe | A probe on a cable from the tracker goes into the refrigerated body. |
| Bluetooth sensor | A sensor, for example the HAM EYE, goes into the load compartment. The tracker hears it with no wires. |
The shop sells the GPS and temperature bundle in a Wired version and a Bluetooth version.
What it measures
Section titled “What it measures”In addition to the position, the speed and the ignition:
| Reading | Unit | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature | °C | |
| Temperature 2 | °C | t1 only, for a second probe. |
| Humidity | % | When the sensor measures humidity. |
| General input 1-4 | open / closed | t4 and t6 only. For example, for the fridge door. |
Rules, charts, alerts and PDF reports work as they do on a HAM temperature logger.
Typical uses
Section titled “Typical uses”- Refrigerated trucks and food delivery vans.
- Transport of medicines.
- Temperature records during transport.
Installation
Section titled “Installation”Install the tracker as install a GPS tracker tells you.
- Wired probe on the FMC230: the blue wire powers the probe, the green wire carries the data and the black probe wire goes to ground.
- Bluetooth sensor: put the EYE sensor in the load compartment, near the tracker.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”- Temperature offset (0): corrects the temperature of the first probe.
- Temperature offset (1) (
t1only): corrects the temperature of the second probe. - Ignition filter: while the ignition is off, the GPS position does not change and the speed is zero. See the caution in GPS trackers.
- Show map: shows the position on a map.
- Include in summary views: the tracker shows in the summary views.
- Device Description: text that shows as a subheading in reports.
Recommended rules
Section titled “Recommended rules”On the device page, the Recommended setups button suggests:
- Temperature out of range: an alert when the temperature goes outside your limits.
- Humidity out of range: an alert when the humidity goes outside your limits.
See Your first alert.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- The temperature does not show: check the probe connection. For a Bluetooth sensor, check its battery and that it is near the tracker.
- The temperature is different from a reference thermometer: correct it with Temperature offset.
- For general problems, see device offline.
