HAM DinSwitchM

The HAM DinSwitchM turns a load on and off from the app and measures its consumption. You install it on a DIN rail in the electrical panel.
The serial number starts with e2:. The HAM DinSwitch is a DIN switch of the older generation.
What it measures
Section titled “What it measures”| Reading | Unit | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Power | W | From the current transformer (CT). |
| Energy | kWh | Total consumption. |
| Energy 2 | kWh | Second counter, for an alternate tariff, for example a night tariff. |
| Voltage | V | |
| Current | A | |
| React. Power | VAR | |
| Frequency | Hz | |
| Power Factor | Calculated by the platform. | |
| Appar. Power | VA | Calculated by the platform. |
| Cost (approx) | From the Cost per kWh setting. | |
| CO₂ Emissions | ton | Calculated from energy. |
| Energy (Daily), (Weekly), (Monthly) | kWh | Energy per period. |
| Gen. In. | open / closed | General input. Give it a name in the settings. |
Typical uses
Section titled “Typical uses”- Water heater, with automatic turn-off when heating stops.
- Pumps, air conditioners and other loads that you control with a schedule.
- Consumption metering for one circuit of the panel.
- Hotel rooms, with a BLE Tag as the room key card.
Installation
Section titled “Installation”The device gets its power from the panel. Install it on a DIN rail.
Current transformer (CT)
Section titled “Current transformer (CT)”The CT is a ring that closes around the phase conductor. The device measures power and energy only for the conductor that goes through the CT.
- Connect the CT wires to the upper terminals 4 and 5.
- Put the white wire on the left and the black wire on the right.
- Close the CT around the phase conductor of the load that you want to measure.
- Turn side K (or S1) toward the supply and side L (or S2) toward the load.
The conductor in the CT must be on the same phase as the device supply on the lower terminals. If the phase is different, power and power factor are wrong.
If you cannot turn the CT, swap the wires. Put the white wire on the right and the black wire on the left.
Connect to WiFi
Section titled “Connect to WiFi”You connect the device from the mobile app. Select the DIN devices in the list.
- Press and hold the on/off button for a few seconds.
- Release the button when the LED starts to blink.
- Continue with the steps in Connect to WiFi.
When the device is connected, the green LED stays on. See LED states.
Terminals and protection
Section titled “Terminals and protection”- Terminal 1: line in. Terminal 2: neutral. Terminal 3: line out to the load.
- Terminals 6 and 7 (S0): pulse input. Do not use them together with the CT.
- The device has no overload or short-circuit protection. Install an overload protection device in the panel.
- Install it in a panel that normal users cannot open.
- Do not use the device to switch the power of the router.
Connect a power relay
Section titled “Connect a power relay”- Connect the device output (terminal 3) to the coil of the power relay.
- Connect the load to the power contacts of the relay. Use the diagram of the relay.
- Close the CT around the phase conductor of the load. Do not close it around the coil wire.
The device then measures the consumption of the load and controls the relay.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”- Waterheater automatic off: the output turns off when the device measures no current. The CT must measure the water heater line.
- BLE Tag monitor: the output turns off when no configured BLE Tag is seen within the delay. It turns on again when a Tag is seen.
- BLE Tag absence delay: the absence time before the output turns off, 60-86400 s. The default is 180 s.
- BLE Tag MAC (0) to BLE Tag MAC (7): the MAC addresses of the BLE Tags that the device monitors.
- CT Ratio: the ratio of the CT that you fitted. The default is 1000.
- Pulses per kWh: the function of the input. Select Energy meter, General input or Toggle output. For an energy meter, enter the pulses per kWh of the meter.
- Manual control is double press: the device button changes the output only with two presses.
- Disable manual control: the device buttons do not change the output.
- Cost per kWh: the energy price for this device. It overrides the account setting.
- Cost per kWh (alternate metering): the price for the second energy counter.
- Do not keep track of data: the platform keeps no reading history for the device.
- Allow LAN commands: other devices on your local network can control this device. Keep the setting off if you do not need it.
- Force IPv4: the device uses only IPv4 connections. It is on by default.
General settings for all devices are in Device settings.
Controls
Section titled “Controls”The device has one output, Out. You turn it on and off from the device page or with the on/off button. See Controls.
On the device page, tap Edit and then Settings on the output. There you set:
- Auto turn-off: the output turns off after the time that you set. This also applies when you turn it on with the button. The value 0 disables it.
- Power on value: the output state when the power comes back, off or on.
- Confirm output changes: the app asks for confirmation before it changes the output.
- PIN Code: the app asks for a PIN before it changes the output.
In the Notifications and Automation section of the page you find:
- Schedule: up to 6 schedules for the output. See Schedules.
- Local rules: 2 rules that run on the device without a cloud connection.
- Accumulator limits: the output turns off when energy reaches a limit.
Recommended rules
Section titled “Recommended rules”The Recommended setups button on the device page suggests:
- A notification when the device loses connection for 15 minutes. It also tells you about a power cut at the site.
- Automatic output turn-off after a delay.
- A schedule for on and off times.
See Your first alert and Offline alerts.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Power is wrong by a constant factor: CT Ratio does not match the CT that you fitted.
- Power is negative or too low: the CT is reversed or measures a different phase. Check side K/L and the supply phase.
- Power is 0: the CT does not measure the load conductor. Some versions ship without a CT. Check your order.
- The output does not change from the app: check if BLE Tag monitor is on.
