HAM Solar and HAM SolarSense

Two HAM devices are for photovoltaic systems:

  • HAM Solar: measures the production of the photovoltaic panels and the solar irradiance. The serial number starts with e7:.
  • HAM SolarSense: measures the solar irradiance and has two general inputs. The serial number starts with e48:.

The app also calculates:

  • Efficiency (%): the power of the panels compared with the irradiance and their area.
  • Expected Power (W): the power that you can expect from the irradiance, the area and the theoretical efficiency.
  • Energy per day, week and month.
  • Cost (approx) and CO₂ Emissions from the energy.

General input 1, 2 open / closed Shows when you configure the input.
Input counter 1, 2 count Counts the changes of the input.
  • Monitoring of the production of a photovoltaic system.
  • Comparison of the real power with the expected power.
  • Logging of the solar irradiance at a site.

You connect the device to WiFi from the mobile app. See Connect to WiFi.

For wiring and availability, contact us. See Contact support.

  • Efficiency: the theoretical efficiency of the panels, 0-100 %. The default is 15 %.
  • Panel Area: the area of the panels in m². The default is 1 m².
  • Do not keep track of data: the platform keeps no history for the device.
  • Force IPv4: the device uses only IPv4 connections. It is on by default.

The app uses the Efficiency and Panel Area settings to calculate the Efficiency and Expected Power readings. Set the values from the data of your panels.

  • Calibration table (Solar Radiation): tap Calibrate to correct the reading with up to 10 points. For each point, you set the device value and the reference value.
  • General input is alarm output: the last general input operates as an alarm output.
  • Device Description: a subheading in reports, up to 128 characters.
  • Do not keep track of data: the platform keeps no history for the device.
  • Allow LAN commands: other devices on your local network can control this device. Keep the setting off if you do not need it.
  • Force IPv4: the device uses only IPv4 connections. It is on by default.

General settings for all devices are in Device settings.

The HAM Solar has two outputs with the name Out. You turn them on and off from the device page. See Controls.

In the Notifications and Automation section of the page you find:

  • Schedule: up to 6 schedules for the outputs of the HAM Solar. See Schedules.
  • Local rules: 4 rules on the HAM Solar and 2 on the HAM SolarSense. They run on the device without a cloud connection.

The HAM SolarSense has no outputs.

For the HAM Solar, the Recommended setups button on the device page suggests:

  • A notification when the temperature goes out of a range for some time. The app suggests limits from the history.
  • A notification when the humidity goes out of a range for some time.
  • A notification when the device loses connection for 15 minutes.

See Your first alert and Offline alerts.

  • Efficiency or Expected Power look wrong: check the Efficiency and Panel Area settings.
  • The Solar Radiation of the HAM SolarSense is different from a reference instrument: use the Calibration table.
